Türkçe Dil Kursları

The courses at Istanbul University Language Center start and end according to the annual academic calendar. The courses are planned as three terms per year. The course start dates are announced regularly. Registrations start one month before the course start date.

Our courses are organized according to the language levels determined in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages, and the foreseen communication and learner-focused education is applied. Accordingly, our courses and certificates are structured as A1-A2 (Basic Level), B1-B2 (Intermediate Level) and C1-Academic Turkish (Advanced Level). Our teachers have either made an academic career or have specialized in this field. Our courses consist of 6 levels starting from A1 level and continuing up to Academic Turkish level.

In addition to Turkish lessons at the Language Center, students are provided with excursions introducing Turkish culture (Bosphorus tour, museums, historical places, etc.), film screenings, and music concerts. The aim is for students to learn the culture of the language they learn and to have the ability to communicate interculturally.

To get further info and make registration, you can send an email to dilmerkezi.turkce@istanbul.edu.tr

Our Turkish courses have been devised as 4 terms per year. There are also additional courses initiated depending on students’ demand. The registration period starts one month prior to the first day of class. All candidates wishing to attend our courses are requested to get an acceptance letter issued by Istanbul University Language Center. To get this document, the candidate student must submit two passport copies and two passport photos, along with the bank receipt showing that the Turkish Lira equivalent of 150 Euros has been paid to the account of Istanbul University Language Center. The candidate students may also have an acquaintance of theirs deliver the required documents to Istanbul University Language Center on their behalf. Once the documents have been submitted, it usually takes a working day to compose and grant the acceptance letter to the candidate student.

The candidate students who wish to make an on-line application must e-mail the required documents to dilmerkezi.turkce@istanbul.edu.tr. The acceptance letter is composed upon the receipt of the relevant e-mail and is sent to the e-mail address of the candidate student in one working day.

The students who have been granted with the acceptance letter apply for a Turkish Language Course Visa through the Turkish Embassy located in their home countries. Once granted with a student visa, the students are expected to apply to Istanbul University Language Center for registration.

Sıkça Sorulan Sorular
How can I register?
To register for a course, you can send an email to dilmerkezi.turkce@istanbul.edu.tr or come to our Beyazıt branch with your passport.
I know a little turkish. Can I start from an upper level?
If the student who wants to register has previously studied Turkish but doesn’t have a certificate to prove it, she/he can take a free Turkish Placement Test. After the exam, the student’s level is determined immediately and she/he gets placed in an appropriate class. Since this is an online exam, you can send an email to dilmerkezi.turkce@istanbul.edu.tr and request to attend it.
What is the invitation/acceptance letter? How can I get it?
In order to enter Turkey and be able to get residence permit, the Turkish Course Visa is necessary. For this visa, the acceptance letter is prepared by our center. The student submits this document to the consulate together with the other documents requested by the consulate. If you send the passport and the photo of the student by attaching the receipt to dilmerkezi.turkce@istanbul.edu.tr, you can get the letter in the following working day. You can bring those documents to our Beyazıt Branch as well.
Which days and hours do the lessons take place?
Our Turkish courses are given 5 days in a week, between 08:30 – 12:30 or 13:30 – 17:30.
When will the courses start and how many weeks will they take?
Generally we start the first term each year in September and we can open new classes for each level upon the request of students. Also, after the beginning of the term, we can open additonal classes if demand for registration exceeds places available. One level takes 7 weeks and there are 6 levels in total. (A1-A2-B1-B2-C1-Academic Turkish)
Where are the courses provided?
As of 2024, we provide the courses in 2 different branches in Istanbul (Beyazıt – Avcılar). The registration process is carried out in the Beyazıt branch, and according to the student’s demand and the classes we will open, we can direct students to other branches. In addition to our face-to-face classes, we also offer hybrid and online course options. Our hybrid classes are scheduled so that some days are held online and other days at our Beyazıt Branch. Since the distribution of days varies by term, you can get detailed information from our Education Consultant before completing your registration.
