Assoc. Prof. Dr. MEHMET YALÇIN YILMAZ
He graduated from the Department of Turkish Language and Literature at the Faculty of Letters, Istanbul University in 1999. He completed his master’s degree at Marmara University Institute of Social Sciences in 2006, and his Ph.D. at Istanbul University Institute of Atatürk Principles and History of Turkish Revolution in 2013.
He started working as a lecturer at Istanbul University’s Department of Foreign Languages in 2001. In 2014, he was appointed as a faculty member at the Istanbul University Institute of Turkology.
Between 2014 and 2018, he served as a board member at the Yunus Emre Institute. In 2018, he received the title of associate professor in the field of Educational Sciences/Turkish Language Education from the Inter-University Council (ÜAK).
Since the establishment of the Istanbul University Language Center, he has served as a unit manager and deputy director. In 2009, he was appointed as the Center Director.
He has led many significant national and international projects in the field of teaching Turkish as a foreign language.
Currently, in addition to his duties as Center Director, he teaches courses at Istanbul University Institute of Turkology and Turkish as a Foreign Language (YADOT) graduate students, including: Intellectual Life in Turkey, Cultural Policies in Turkey, Language Policies, Cultural Policies in Eurasia, Curriculum and Activity Design for YADOT, and Material Design.
Academic fields of study: Turkish Modernization, Intellectual Movements in the Turkic World, Culture and Language Policies, Use of Technology and Material Development in Turkish Language Education.
